Urging political parties to reach consensus on economic policy and reforms

Karu Jayasuriya presented with Pathfinder Road Map

Continuing dissemination of policy recommendations for avoiding a crisis and promoting faster economic growth, The Pathfinder Foundation (PF) met Minister of Public Administration, Local Government, Good Governance and Buddha Saasane Karu Jayasuriya at his office recently and presented copies of the Economic Policy Road Map (Charting the way forward: Prosperity for all).

PF Executive Director Luxman Siriwardena presenting the Sinhala, Tamil and English copies of the document to Jayasuriya stated that their intention is to draw the attention of the policy makers of the major political parties and promote a public discourse on the emerging scenario and need for the implementation of an economic policy package. During the coming weeks, the PF is planning to personally hand over this Road Map to other political leaders.

The policy recommendations in the document have been developed as a follow up to over 50 analytical studies commissioned by the PF mainly focusing on key economic issues, including the current macro-economic developments, increasing the productivity of agriculture, export diversification, education, training and skills development,water supply to the North Central and Northern Provinces, empowering conflict affected communities, enhancing the living standards of planation workers and need for improving efficiency and profitability of the state owed enterprises.
