Main opposition United National Party (UNP) yesterday said the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has been affected by the downfall of the economy and manipulation of the stock market by persons affiliated to the governing United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA).

UNP Senior Vice President and parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella told a press conference that there was no fear psychosis being created by the issues raised by the opposition legislators.

He denied that the investigations being carried out by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into manipulations in the stock market have led to the falling of the stock market.

According to Kiriella, it was certain members with affiliations to the governing party that are involved in manipulating the stock market.  (Colombo Page)
