UltraTech Cement Lanka’s most recent initiative, Technical Expertise At your Door Step (TEADS) is designed to meet the varied needs of Sri Lanka’s individual house builders, bringing bespoke construction information directly to the public.
An extension of its ongoing efforts to promote consumer education and support the industry, TEADS has received encouraging feedback from homebuilders since its launch in November last year.
The initiative has reached out to 500 people across the western, north-central, southern, eastern and central provinces and hopes to expand its range of services around the rest of the island.
Instead of individual home builders having to seek out technical expertise, the team conducts onsite visits and dispenses information accordingly directly. Teams from UltraTech Cement Lanka travel around the country in a specialised vehicle comfortably equipped to conduct audio-visual presentations, responding to the queries of home builders, masons and contractors.
While technical advice is dispensed directly onsite, the call centre representatives, spanning multiple functionaries, are also trained to respond to construction queries or commercial matters relating to cement.
“Having observed the fluctuations of the housing industry and as a cement company with 15 years of experience in Sri Lanka and more than 30 years in India, we felt that we should extend our support towards the industry by augmenting consumer self-efficacy and technical expertise,” commented UltraTech Cement Lanka Ltd. Chief Executive Kiran Redkar. He elaborated that the TEADS initiative and the launch of the customer hotline was a part of a series of initiatives that UltraTech Cement Lanka has taken towards adding value to the industry and assisting consumers.
UltraTech Cement Lanka General Manager Technical Q&A Sandeep Holey added, “This service is rendered free of charge, is focused on adding value to the industry and not bound with any commercial interest. After in-house research about the industry, we realised that logistics are sometimes a problem for people who are in need of this type of technical information and we decided to eliminate this barrier by coming directly to them.”
