UL says no fresh vegetables and greens on European flights

As a precautionary measure against the E.coli outbreak currently spreading in Europe, SriLankan Airlines said yesterday it has taken off all fresh vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber and leafy greens from their menus on all flights out of Europe.  

The airlines flies to London, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan and Rome in Europe and until it is once again safe to serve raw vegetables which may carry the E coli (Escherichia coli) bacteria, the airline has decided to remove all such items from its range of menus on food uplifted from these European cities.

E coli — a bacteria found in faecal matter of animals and human and transferred to humans through consumption raw vegetables has already caused several deaths in Germany and is spreading throughout Europe according to new reports.
