TV Derana marked a milestone in the history of Sri Lanka’s television industry with the construction of the largest transmission tower in the Nuwara Eliya area. Located in the Kikiliyamana Mountain, Nuwara Eliya, the new transmission centre and tower uses the latest DVBT-2 European digital technology which enables TV Derana to provide greater coverage throughout the country. The opening ceremony was held recently under the patronage of Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka Director General Anusha Palpita.
Viewers can enjoy TV Derana on the UHF 36 frequency while FM Derana also broadcasts from this new tower through FM 92.2 and 92.4 with a significant increase in signal strength. FM Derana is a Sinhala language FM radio channel launched in 2009.
