The launch of the third rural agricultural exposure fair ‘Ag Biz North’ will be held today, 14 June, at the Fine Dining restaurant of Light House Galley Hotel, Chaithya Road, Colombo 01, in the presence of Governor of Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri. NAC together with Practical Action invites all stakeholders in the agribusiness chain for this launch.
The exhibition, which will be held on 26 and 27 July 2013 at the Central College Grounds Kilinochchi, is organised by the National Agribusiness Council and supported by the USAID-funded Practical Action. The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
A large number of agricultural products, inputs, new technologies and services will be showcased at this event. The majority of the agricultural practices were abandoned in the last three decades in the region due to the conflict. It is an essential requirement to educate the farming community in the region on new technologies, to build up linkages with agri input suppliers and support services.
The ‘Ag Biz North’ exhibition will bring modern agriculture technologies to the farmers of the north and create a platform for all stakeholders of the agribusiness chain to meet under one roof. ‘Ag Biz North’ is an opportunity that should not be missed by any agricultural stake holder in the country.
At ‘Ag-Biz North,’ visitors will be able to see more than 60 stalls consisting of all the inputs needed for agriculture and fisheries sector such as seeds, agrochemicals and fertiliser, agricultural machinery and implements, solar pumps, irrigation systems, tissue culture, fisheries and financial institutions. Further details and stall reservations can be obtained from National Agribusiness Council by calling 011 5231090.
