The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman organised a trade and investment promotion event on 20 July at the Embassy premises with the participation of potential Jordanian and Iraqi investors to Sri Lanka.
The Vice President, the Secretary General and a few members of Iraqi Business Council (IBC) were invited for a power point presentation on ‘Investing in Sri Lanka,’ which focused on areas related to trade and investments in Sri Lanka.
The event was organised with the particular emphasis attracting investors from the IBC based in Amman. As Iraq is becoming a stable country, Sri Lanka has the opportunity to increase two way business contacts. Iraq, being a large destination for Sri Lanka Tea, offers to diversify businesses as the IBC has over 300 members based in Jordan.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan requested the members of the delegation to convey the information that gathered about Sri Lanka among other potential Iraqi investors. Promotional materials about investing Sri Lanka were also distributed during the event.
Having expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive presentation, the members of IBC indicated that they will get this information across to the other members and persuade them to visit Sri Lanka to explore the opportunities available in Sri Lanka for trade and investment. The delegation was treated with Ceylon Tea and a gift-pack of varieties of Ceylon Tea.
