SriLankan Cargo, the freight handling arm of SriLankan Airlines, will host a gala agents awards ceremony in Colombo tonight to celebrate the success of its best cargo agents and to felicitate them for their outstanding support to the national carrier.
The airline’s finest cargo agents will receive gold, silver and bronze and outstanding achievement awards at the event which will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Galle Face Hotel. The awards will be presented by Chief Commercial Officer of the airline Siva Ramachandran, Head of Cargo Chamara Ranasinghe and the senior management of SriLankan Cargo.
SriLankan Cargo (www.srilankancargo.com) operates to all of SriLankan Airlines’ 100 destinations in 47 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe, on its sophisticated all-Airbus fleet of A320, A320neo, A321, A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft, and also operates an efficient dedicated freighter service to various cities in South Asia with which it connects to the airline’s global network.
SriLankan Cargo contributed a significant 11% of the national carrier’s revenue during 2015/16 and has the largest market share of 24% of air cargo into and out of Sri Lanka.
Just as importantly, SriLankan Cargo plays a vital role in supporting the logistics infrastructure of Sri Lanka’s economy, including a diverse range of import and export industries. This includes all types of general cargo, courier shipments, perishable goods, live animals, dangerous goods, valuables, vehicles and goods that require special care.
SriLankan Cargo also carries the largest share of transhipment freight through Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport and handled 39,842 tonnes of transhipment cargo in the calendar year 2016.
