With reference to the Guest Column appearing in the Daily FT issue of 1 December titled ‘Downsizing, rightsizing SriLankan Airlines’ by Sarath de Alwis, SriLankan Airlines has sent the following clarification.
de Alwis did contact the office of General Manager Corporate Communications (GMCC), when he was away at a meeting. Hence, he was requested to send his query via email. Subsequently, the GMCC’s office tried to contact him on Friday, but de Alwis could not be reached.
In his email, de Alwis referred to a certain award won by the Airline and SriLankan responded to his first query clarifying some facts. However, he later informed that the information was not included in his article.
SriLankan acknowledged his second query last Friday and was in the process of formulating answers to it. In this backdrop, SriLankan wishes to reiterate that the columnist’s statement “…more tangible information failed because the General Manager of Corporate Communications of SriLankan Airlines could not be accessed,” is inaccurate.
