The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organised a farewell for The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka Harimawan Suyitno, at the Hilton Colombo Residences recently. The Ambassador is the Patron of the Sri Lanka Indonesia Business Council, which was formed under aegis of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, almost 25 years ago. The farewell ceremony was well attended by members of the Business Council, their spouses, past presidents, heads of other Governmental departments and other well-wishers.
During his four-year tenure in Sri Lanka, the Indonesian Ambassador rendered yeoman service to enhance business and boost ties between the two nations. SLIBC President Kalinga Wijesekera delivered a warm welcome speech on the occasion, lauding the fact that the Indonesian Embassy had assisted the Business Council in numerous ways. He went on to underscore the fact that the granting of the ‘On Arrival Visa Facility’ for Sri Lankans was a key milestone during The Ambassador’s tenure and highly appreciated by the people of Sri Lanka. He was hopeful that this would facilitate greater tourism and business ties between the two nations.
The new Counsellor and Economic Affairs of the Indonesia Embassy Pinardi Priambodo, who will be responsible for all bilateral trade, investment and tourism related matters, was also welcomed warmly on the occasion.
The primary objective of SLIBC is to promote trade, services, tourism and joint ventures between the two nations.
