The 16th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka-Australia-New Zealand Business Council (SLANZBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was held at Waters Edge, Battaramulla recently.
Newly-elected President Jit Gunaratne, President Consumer Foods Sector – JKH Group thanked the Immediate Past President Senaka Silva, Honorary Consul General of New Zealand and Chief Executive Officer of Saraa OS Leather (Pvt) Ltd. and the Executive Committee for their commendable efforts taken to add value to the Business Council during the challenging years.
Sharing his plan of activities for 2012-2013, Gunaratne mentioned that SLANZBC would strive and ensure to grow, develop and endure as a strong and vibrant Business Council serving the needs of the members and stakeholders.
Ramya Perera, Vice President – Business Development of Infotech Ltd., Mark Francis, Executive Director of Malship Ceylon Ltd., Thusith Samaraweera, General Manager of Waters Edge Ltd. and Lionel Silva, Chairman of Lidechsi (Pvt) Ltd.
were elected as Vice Presidents of the Council respectively.
The following companies were elected to serve on the Committee for the Year 2012-2013: AG International (Pvt) Ltd., Copyline (Pvt) Ltd., Dart Global Logistics Ltd., Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., Glolan International (Pvt) Ltd., Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Ltd., Informatics (Pvt) Ltd., Mega Pharma (Pvt) Ltd., Microcells Ltd., Sri Lankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd., Westmann Engineering (Pvt) Ltd.
The event was graced by Robyn Mudie, High Commissioner for Australia in Sri Lanka. Addressing the members Mudie mentioned that Sri Lanka has an enormous growth potential and is a stable, peaceful country.
Robyn Mudie emphasised that the trade relationship between Sri Lanka and Australia would continue to grow and the High Commission of Australia would closely work with SLANZBC to enhance the trade relationship between the two countries.
