Sri Lanka – Austria Economic Forum on Thursday

A high level delegation from Austria, including Austrian Federal Economic Chamber  Vice President Rudolf Schenz,  Austrian Ambassador Bernhard Wrabetz and Austrian Commercial Counsellor Oskar Andesner will be visiting Sri Lanka from 11-14 May. 

A business delegation will be accompanying the dignitaries. The business delegation is interested in  exploring the Sri Lankan market and seeks vital contacts with the Sri Lankan business community. The business delegates are representatives of companies from the water treatment sector, hydropower sector, health care sector and renewable energy systems sector.

The Austrian Trade Commission based in New Delhi will be hosting the “Sri Lanka – Austria Economic Forum” on 12 May 2016. The forum will be held in the Ivy Room at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel. This forum is organised by The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is also playing a supportive role for this event. 

The main focus of this forum will be “Sri Lanka – a bright spot in today’s worldwide economy.” Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva will deliver key note speeches.

Following the key note speeches Ravi Karunanayake and Dr. Harsha De Silva will join a panel discussion. The panel will also comprise of Deputy Minister of State Enterprise Development EranWickremaratne, Partner at John Wilson Partners,  John Wilson, and former partner of KPMG Premila Perera. The panel will be moderated by Indrajit Coomaraswamy reputed Economist, and former director of Economic Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat. 

The panel discussion will be followed by a presentation by the chairman of the Board of Investment Sri Lanka, Upul Jayasuriya. The Commercial Counselor at the Austrian Embassy Dr. Oskar Andesner will then introduce the delegation to the audience and provide an overview on the business possibilities.
