The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has already commenced a separate inquiry to investigate the sudden fire that broke out in Colombo Port’s Hyundai Private Site on Monday, the Ports and Shipping Ministry said yesterday.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry clarified that the fire had occurred at the Hyundai site and not in the Eastern Terminal of the Port.
According to the Ministry, the fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. and it occurred on a stock of scrap rubber tubes used to pump sand from sea to land.
The Ministry further said no property of SLPA had been damaged due to the fire and no personal injuries had been reported so far.
“There was no disturbance to the day-to-day activities of the SLPA or the Colombo Port terminals,” it added. (CG)
