SLIIT recently tied up with Illinois State University – USA by signing a MoU for academic exchange and cooperation in teaching, research and training for advancement and dissemination of learning.
Both institutions have agreed to an exchange of scholars and faculty for the benefit of students and staff. Professor Lalith Gamage, President/CEO of SLIIT and Sheri Noren Everts – Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost from Illinois State University signed the MoU at Illinois State University – USA
Illinois State University, considered to be the oldest public university in Illinois, is also recognised as one of the top ten largest producers of teachers in the United States according to the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.
The University places strong focus on research and its School of Information Technology provides premier undergraduate and graduate programs for the education of computing and telecommunications professionals. These programs are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
“It gives us great pleasure to announce our partnership with a renowned university which has been ranked among the top 100 universities in the United States,” said Professor S. Karunaratne – Chairman of SLIIT.
“This collaboration will provide students and teachers from SLIIT and Illinois State University with a host of mutually beneficial academic opportunities,” noted Professor Lalith Gamage. Present at the event were representatives of Illinois State University, Professor Jim Jawahar – Associate Provost, Professor Jeffrey A. Wood – Dean College of Applied Science and Technology, Professor Richard Boser – Professor and Chair, Department of Technology, Professor Joaquin Vila-Ruiz – Head – School of Information Technology, Mary Elaine Califf – Associate Director, and Professor Klaus Schmidt – Department of School of Information Technology.
