“The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born - that there is a genetic factor to leadership,” that’s nonsense says Warren Bennis, a pioneer of the contemporary field of leadership studies. “In fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.” Focusing on the above the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) will once again conduct a Chairmen’s Forum featuring some of the country’s well known business personalities this evening from 5 to 7.30 p.m. (registrations and refreshments from 4.30 p.m.) at the Ivy Room of the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo. The panel boasts of an experienced outfit. Central Finance Company PLC Chairman Jayampathi Banadaranayake, Aitken Spence PLC Chairman Harry Jayawardena, United Motors Lanka PLC Chairman Sunil Wijesinha and former Chairman of Bank of Ceylon PLC Razik Zarook with the Commercial Bank’s Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody serving as the moderator. The panellists will primarily focus on the experiences gathered over the years in their respective entities whilst paying closer attention towards the role and responsibilities of a chairman and the obstacles faced and lessons learned over their distinguished careers. The panel will also be opened to the participants during its Q&A session which will follow the discussion. The forum is sponsored by Dialog Enterprise and Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC. More information on the forum can be obtained from the SLID Secretariat via email to [email protected] or by phone on 2301646/8.
