SLDF’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways will premier Penguin’s modern take on travelling in style

Penguin sportswear has been presenting its innovation in apparel manufacturing and design at the annual Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) since the event inception in 2009. In its eighth edition for 2016, Penguin comes forward with a collection like never before; working parallel to SLDF’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runway theme of ‘Travel collections’ which looks to give Sri Lanka a new identity as a travel style destination, Penguin will present a collection that fuses their biggest strengths in luxury active and intimate wear. This unlikely combination focuses on mixing the finer details of what essentially makes active wear and intimate apparel such as trims, colour palettes, fabric choices and finishes. The collection aims to make a hybrid style statement that stands for the relaxed ease of active and the glamorous luxury of designer intimates.  This modern collection will be part of a bigger travel style story that will be featured on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways at SLDF, to paint a realistic picture of what Sri Lankan apparel makers are set to deliver as Sri Lanka evolves into a travel style destination.

Penguin is a fashion and apparel manufacturer that started operations back in 1989 when the local apparel industry was finding its strengths and beginning its journey to become one of the world’s most respected manufacturing industries. Penguin collection that fuses the best of their creative and technical strengths to make a hybrid look for the new-age traveller will be highlighted on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways at SLDF on 5 November. Presented in front of a powerful audience of those in the fashion business, Penguin collection with the rest of the apparel industry showcases will be a direct invitation for the business world to take note of what Sri Lankan manufacturers can deliver as they progress to a new future with travel style as an identity for the whole industry. The collection will also be streamed live worldwide on digital media to take local apparel makers’ innovations to every corner of the global fashion industry and to cement Sri Lanka’s role as a destination for travel style.
