Economic progress achieved by Sri Lanka after eradication of terrorism is remarkable, Bangladesh Finance Minister Abdul Maal A. Muhith said.
He said this during a meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and a group of Bangladesh business people in Dhaka this afternoon.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has set an example to the world by successfully defeating terrorism and working towards the development of livelihoods of the people, the Bangladesh Finance Minister said.
While hailing President Rajapaksa for his role in eliminating terrorism in Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh Finance Minister said both countries have equally suffered from terrorism.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris elaborated on the economic progress achieved by implementing policies in the Mahinda Chinthana policy framework in which the Government has taken several steps for the upliftment of social justice, democracy and restoring a lasting peace, Prof. Peiris said.
Bangladeshi investors expressed keen interest in investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni and Industries Minister Dilip Barua of Bangladesh were also present at the occasion.
MOU signed between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh
President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on an official state visit to Bangladesh signed MOUs between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Prime Minister’s official residence recently (18 April).
