The Association for International Standards (AIS), an affiliate member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, will hold its annual Kaizen and 5S Seminar under the theme, “Productivity and Efficiency – through Kaizen and 5S”, in Sinhala aimed at all organisations and individuals willing to make a difference in their work places.
Kelani Cables PLC and Management Consultant Premalal Fernando will be the resource persons at the seminar.
The Kaizen and 5S concept has been widely practiced by private and public sector organisations, schools, offices, plantations, police stations, hospitals and many other institutions with excellent results. The Kaizen and 5S initiatives are directed at people’s efforts and revolve around “People”.
It is a low cost methodology and once implemented, the changes are easily identifiable within a short period of time. There have been dramatic improvements in productivity, quality of products and services, delivery efficiencies and safety standards.
Elimination of all kinds of waste in organisations is a key area focused by the Kaizen and 5S system. More importantly there is a visible change in the morale of people and it leaves a lasting impression on customers and society.
All these imperatives have led to reduced costs and enhanced profits in those organisations where Kaizen and 5S have been implemented.
Judging by the interest shown by organisations and the number of participants at its previous seminars, it is evident that the Kaizen and 5S system has grown in popularity in our country and has gained acceptance as a system worth pursuing.
The AIS will continue to promote and propagate best practices in quality, environment, human resource management, social accountability, health and safety, information technology, security etc. enabling Sri Lankan businesses to achieve a leading edge to compete successfully in local and global markets.
