Sea Consortium Lanka denies

Sea Consortium Lanka Pvt Ltd., yesterday denied contents in a story published in the Daily FT shipping page on Monday. The Company also said Sea Consortium Singapore Ltd., has no connection with Sea Consortium Lanka Pvt Ltd.

Based on a press statement (http://www.itfglobal.org/news-online/index.cfm/newsdetail/5624) posted on the web site of the London-based International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), the Daily FT reported that a ruling by the Commissioner-General of Labour has ordered that workers employed at a terminal in Colombo should be paid substantial back wages. The ruling follows a dispute between 230 drivers, backed by the ITF-affiliated National Union of Seafarers (NUSS), and their contractor employer Sea Consortium Lanka Pvt. Ltd.
