Inspiring plumbers across Sri Lanka in their drive to encourage excellence and hard work in the industry, S-lon took its Plumber Educational Program to Horana (Kalutara Region) recently. This grand event was organised to educate the plumbers by conducting an informative and interactive knowledge sharing session to further uplift their profession and also to recognise selected hardworking plumbers in the region, for their passion, with incentive rewards.
The event was graced by the participation of The Capital Maharaja Organisation Ltd. Group Director S.C. Weerasekera, Director Sales Ranjan Liyanage, Senior Managers and staff of S-lon Lanka Ltd., Managing Director of Kalutara Region Dhammika Kariyawasam and the NAITA officials.
Weerasekera, addressing the gathering said, “The purpose of this event is not meant to motivate you to promote S-lon products but to pay tribute to plumbers, as the plumbing community has helped us at S-lon from our very beginnings.”
Speaking on S-lon products, he further stressed, “If you think that there are better products out there besides that from S-lon, then do not promote S-lon. Promote S-lon only if you think it’s your best choice, to give the best to the people.” Elaborating on the value of integrity, he went on to say, “Plumbers have to be honest in their job and have to maintain their standards.”
He further went on in advising them on the development of their skill, by quoting Lord Buddha’s teachings, “Divide your income into four parts, and allocate two parts for the development of your profession, one part for your expenses while saving the last part of your income for emergencies.”
S-lon Lanka Ltd. together with the National Apprentices and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) conducts Trade Tests to enhance skills development and professional recognition of youth engaged in plumbing.
All successful candidates were awarded certificates along with a life insurance cover and an identity card that certifies them as trained plumbers. The insurance cover lends a helping hand to the plumbers’ families in the aftermath of an unforeseen circumstance. This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment towards society and its stakeholders. The S-lon Plumbers Club with a membership of active members accredited to NAITA provides professional plumbing services across the island.
