Richlife initiates dairy development for higher quality fresh milk

Richlife Dairies Limited, the premier Sri Lankan dairy and fruit based consumer products manufacturer recently initiated a nationwide ‘Fresh Milk and Dairy Development Programme’ to assist Sri-Lankan dairy farmers, gain additional knowledge and expertise in modern technology.

The main objective of this programme is to elevate the freshness and quality of fresh cow’s milk collected across the country. In addition to providing Richlife’s own technical expertise, this unique programme presented the expert knowledge of Hayleys Agro Limited and the valuable contributions of Divisional Veterinary practitioners in the respective districts. It is designed to increase the knowledge and standards of dairy farming by way of interactive seminars and workshops. Richlife Dairies has planned to roll out this programme to cover all provinces including the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

The ‘Fresh Milk & Dairy Development Programme’ was launched recently in the Western Province at Kirindiwela with the participation of over 200 dairy farmers. At this programme, the latest techniques and technologies on how to gain the better yield of fresh milk was disseminated by Veterinarian, Dr. Ishan Weerasinghe and Pharmacist Priyantha Sahabandu of the Livestock Development Unit of Hayleys Agro Limited. In addition, the Livestock Development Instructors of the district K. J. M. P. Kothalawala (Biyagama) and M. D. Siriwardena (Nittambuwa) also made valuable contributions to uplift the knowledge of the participant farmers.

Being the only value added fresh milk producing company in the country; Richlife has obtained the ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System Certification. It assures that every product of Richlife purchased by the consumer is produced in a high quality and safe environment. Another, unique feature of the Richlife’s dairy product range is that they are made from high quality pure and fresh cow’s milk hygienically collected from our own local dairy farmers.

Dilupa Pathirana and Trevene Perera, Managers, Dairy Development and Extension Officers of Richlife Dairies also participated in the inaugural ‘Fresh Milk and Dairy Development Programme’.
