Regency Teas has been in the forefront of the Sri Lankan Tea Industry for the past 15 years. Established in 1997 by a dynamic group of professionals who had already established themselves in the Sri Lankan tea and plantation industry, Regency Teas quickly asserted itself as a packer and exporter of the finest quality teas.
Since inception, the company has been packing tea under the core brand ‘Hyleys’ which is still the company’s flagship brand. The wide range of teas under the Hyleys umbrella includes; traditional and classic black and green tea as well as specialty blends with flavours, additives and herbs.
The company has recently launched several functional and end-user benefit teas consisting of 100% natural ingredients in stride with latest global consumer trends. These innovative products have special packaging and unique customer appeal, adding further value to “taste and health” aspects.
Regency Teas export to over 25 countries and the strongest outreach is in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.
The marketing and distribution activity of all Hyleys products within this region is handled by our partner ‘Hyleys Tea Company Russia’ based in Moscow. The company’s latest marketing drive by their recently appointed agents in North America and Canada, have also shown promising results with encouraging customer feedback. Hyleys is now a true Global brand with products available in major supermarket chains such as Metro, Real, Auchan, Billa, Novus, Spar in Ukraine, Continent, Auchan, Lenta in Russia, Maxima, Beta, Prisma in the Baltic’s and Winner’s, Loblaw’s, and Home Sense in Canada.
On the manufacturing front, the company operates a production plant of 70,000 sq ft with modern infrastructure, tea packaging machinery and highly skilled staff in close proximity to Colombo. With a production output of 1.9 million tea bags per day, Regency Teas have consistently remained within the 10 largest exporters of tea bags for the past several years. Annually, the factory produces 3500 metric tons of tea in value added from under strict Food Safety Management Systems and guidelines. The plant is HACCP certified through the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, accredited to RVA Holland.
A passion for customer satisfaction and trade excellence has been well rewarded with the company receiving many local as well as international awards. These include an Award of Excellence in Moscow, four National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) awards at the recently held 2011 awards ceremony as well as a National Plantation Award presented by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. These have reaffirmed the company’s stature as a premier tea exporter in Sri Lanka.
