Red Bull have selected Deccan to provide hangars and other services for its Corvus41 racer which is in Sri Lanka for the Red Bull Air Show 2011 at Unawatuna on 3 December this year. Support services for the Red Bull aircraft will be the fifth such contract the firm has won from private owners.

“So far, we have assembled a helicopter for a private client, we maintain an aircraft for a flying training school, we have assembled a brand new 8 seater commuter plane, and are working now on getting a contract to restore a twin engine aircraft,” stated H.S. Silva, the Manager at Deccan’s facility at Ratmalana airport. Due to space restrictions at Ratmalana the airline is said to be looking at building a brand new general aviation (GA) and maintenance and repair facility (MRO) at the new airport in Mattala and is in discussions with a global light aircraft manufacturer to assemble aircraft destined for the Indian market at the new airport when it opens in 2012.

Established in year 2004 Deccan Aviation is Sri Lanka’s leading domestic airline and the only company to operate both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in the country.  Deccan flies high-end tourists, corporates to visiting investors, and works with the top producers of the travel industry.

Deccan’s Skylimo is a special volume discount programme that Deccan has introduced for frequent flyers.

Sky Limo members enjoy the lowest charter rates for helicopters and aircraft in Sri Lanka.
