Nehemiah Consultants, one of the fastest growing Public Relations agencies in Sri Lanka recently offered a sponsorship for the winner of the seventh annual Chokolaate Ponds Mother Daughter Fashion Designer Contest 2016. The grand finale which featured 16 finalists was held at the SLECC on Saturday 28 May and was won by young and talented designer Viranda Bandara.
Speaking on the decision to sponsor such an event, Nehemiah Consultants Managing Director Sanura Gunawardana notes, “In this day and age, the success of an event goes hand in hand with good publicity. However, most people still think of PR as a press release or air time on electronic media. Public Relations has so much more scope and one of the areas we want people to look at is Celebrity PR. This is one reason why we are partnering with events such as this to promote this aspect.
“The other reason is that we want to be involved with the younger generation because as an organisation that believes in the youth, we want to be an integral part of their lives. Nehemiah Consultants was also founded to showcase the talent of writers, translators, graphic designers, animators and business consultants on one platform. So this event allows us to empower the next generation with likeminded organisations.”
Viranda Bandara who is a student of Gateway College will receive an extensive public relations package targeting print/electronic and digital media which will enable her to grow her clothing brand and create much-needed hype as an upcoming designer.
Chokolaate Magazine Managing Editor Michelle Gunasekara also expressing her views noted, “We are pleased with the level the show has reached and the young talent that emerges each year. As it has always been our objective through Chokolaate Magazine to highlight young talent and give them opportunities to advance themselves in their respective field, through MDFD we highlight those pursuing fashion design. We are also very pleased that Nehemiah Consultants have come forward to further emphasise this commitment and assist the winner in her journey as a fashion designer.”
Held for the seventh consecutive time this year, the Chokolaate Ponds Mother Daughter Fashion Design Contest is widely known for being a very glamorous event that bridges generation gaps. Put together by the Chokolaate Magazine participants this year showcased their designs under the casual wear, sportswear and evening wear segments.
