Profood Propack and Agbiz 2012, an exhibition that will showcase the entire process of the food and packaging industry under one roof is set to take place for the 11th consecutive year on the 6th, 7th and 8th of Jul 1012 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Hall, in Colombo.

The event has been synonymous throughout the years for its comprehensive and wide range of offerings, to both the general public who are keen to understand the food and packaging process and the stakeholders within the industry who are looking at better and efficient methods of maximising their returns and serving their customers with nothing but the best.

The exhibition spanning three days will have up to 300 stalls from a wide arena of categories related to the food and packaging industry. The stalls will include exhibitors representing the poultry and farming industry, agriculture, machinery and equipment and processed food industries. The main addition to this year’s exhibition will be the inclusion of a section tagged ‘Halal food Asia’ and will have the participation of all major stake holders within that specialised segment.  Exhibitors will include those from India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey and Argentina.

This year the theme of the event will be from the ‘Farm to Kitchen’ denoting the entire process of the food industry. Stalls will showcase all levels within the industry- starting from the farm where the basic produce is made to the, mid level processes in which the products are gathered and differentiated to suit each different product, and then the last layer in the process which include packaging and delivery to the consumer who would finally consume the product.

The event throughout its three days will feature the most innovative and modern technological systems in the beverage, food and packaging industries under one single roof. ProFood Pack and Agbiz is considered the only comprehensive exhibition that caters and showcases products for this much segmented industry.

The industry in itself is something that every citizen of this country benefits from either by way of a direct consumer or as a participant in one of the processes. Therefore it has witnessed tremendous interest among the general public who will have the opportunity to learn and experience firsthand the minute details that go in to the food that the general public ultimately consume.

Organising Committee Chairman Dhammika Gunasekara is of the opinion that the event will provide stake holders of all industries a central gathering point which will give them the ability to witness a cross section of facets within the industry.

“The current growth in the economy and the need for a comprehensive event that covers all angles has been met by Pro Food Pack during the last decade. We want to build on our success and want to take this ever evolving industry to the next level giving all participants a different and unique outlook into the inner workings of the products that are so close to them, it will also provide a cross section of industry players a platform to witness the complete integration process involved with food processing and packaging,” he said.

The addition of Agbiz to the event will give the visitor a value addition to the entire process that is both unique and experiential. Modern methods of seeding, innovative technologies regarding irrigations systems, methods that most efficiently identify and harness the right crops will all be a part and parcel of the exhibition spanning three days.

Super market chains, Hotels, category buyers and the general public will be provided with the most suitable platform to understand, compare and decide on the most effective and efficient method to cater to their differing needs.

Industry players such as hotel owners and supermarket chains will be afforded the opportunity to witness low cost and high efficient methods used for the entire process which will in turn help them to serve their customers cost effectively and maximise profit margins.

The Gold Sponsors for the event in the food and beverage category will be Elephant house, with Buhler India a machinery and equipment giant taking over the Gold sponsor spot for the machinery category.

C.D De Fonseka and Sons will feature as the Silver sponsors in the food and beverage category while Mai S.A Argentina will feature as the Silver sponsor for the Machienry category.
