Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread Health Walk, Carnival a success

On 10 April 2011, the Galle Face Green was alive with throngs of people participating in activities with the one aim of becoming more healthy individuals. 

The event was the Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread Health Walk and Carnival, which was organised by Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread to coincide with World Health Day.

The entire festivities and activities were themed around the concept of ‘healthy living’ and therefore one of the most prominent featured products at the event was Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread, which is high in fibre and nutrients and ideal for those seeking a healthy lifestyle.

Shun Tien Shing, General Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries (Prima Group), Sajith Gunaratne, Senior Business Manager and Senior Marketing Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries (Prima Group) and Renuka Marshall, Managing Director of TBWA\TAL were also present at the event. The health walk commenced from Galle Face Green, and took the route from the Galadari roundabout to Hilton junction to the Lake House roundabout and back to Galle Face Green. Over 500 people participated in the Health Walk. All the health walk participants wore vibrantly branded Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread t-shirt and caps, which were provided by Prima.

Shun Tien Shing opened the carnival to the public by unveiling three large loaves of Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread, each weighing 68kg. The carnival grounds were a bustle of activity with many stalls managed by several reputed organisations which provided valuable health relate information, products and services to participants. Body By Kris conducted body fat tests and provided work out tips to the participants as well as offered one day free memberships and discounts on one year memberships. Addidas offered a 20% discount on their products and also conducted a Wet Print Test, which checks the sole of the foot in order to provide proper balance.

Nawaloka Hospitals conducted blood sugar tests, BMI checks and blood pressure checks. A dietician was on hand to provide health and dietary tips while Vision Care carried out eye tests for those interested in getting their eyesight checked. Participants interested in starting a fitness regime were given such information by Zumba Sri Lanka, who also conducted a Zumba workout session. Other stalls included the Anlene stall, where participants were given free bone scans and Flora got to sample the products to the carnival-goers. Refreshments were provided through a Prima Sunrise Whole Grain bread sandwich bar where a variety of whole grain sandwiches were made and served at the location.

Over 500 people were present at Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread Health Walk and Carnival making the event a huge success. By organising this event Prima has been able to realise the objective of making the Sri Lankan public aware of the importance of health and wellness and by doing so helped to uplift the nutritional and health levels of the nation.
