Top professional Marie Premila Perera has been appointed as a Non Executive Director on the Board of Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc (CTC), with effect from 7 January 2013.
Perera is currently, Partner and Head of Tax Services of KPMG in Sri Lanka. She has been a Partner of the firm since 1990 and has extensive experience in the arena of international tax, financial services, mergers and acquisitions.
During her tenure with KPMG, she served as Regional Tax Director of KPMG Asia Pacific (location Singapore) in 2000/2001 and was co-opted as a member of the Global Task Force commissioned by the International Board of KPMG in 1998, to advice the Board on future direction in determining its long term strategic plans.
She also served a period of secondment with the US Firm’s National Tax Office in Washington DC, and was a participant at the KPMG-INSEAD International Banking School program.
She is a member of the Main Committee and the Tax Steering Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and has been a presenter/moderator at various client forums as well as resource person at forums organised by professional bodies, Chambers of Commerce, USAID and at the KPMG International Tax Business School.
Following the latest appointment the Board of Directors of CTC Plc comprises Jayampathi Divale Bandaranayake (Non Executive Chairman), James Yamanaka (Managing Director and CEO), Ariful Islam (Finance Director) and Non Executive Directors Devasiri Rodrigo, Susantha Ratnayake, Mobasher Raza, Aritaratne Hewage, and Marie Premila Perera.
