Precision Lapidaries celebrates 20 years

Precision Lapidaries, one of the leading exporters of high quality cut and polished calibrated sapphires recently celebrated its 20th anniversary at The Kingsbury, Colombo with the participation of the management, top business personnel, artists, employees and their family members.

ted employees who contributed to the successful journey of 20 years; the awards were given depending on the service period, the talent shown in different divisions, and performance shown in production. 

Tilly Salie, the Managing Director’s father was also felicitated for his immense guidance to the growth of the company. He was presented with a plaque by his son, Faiq Rehan Salie, the Managing Director.

The company’s official website www.precisionlapidaries.com was also launched by Faiq Salie at the same occasion. 

The guest of honour, founding Chairman of the Precision Lapidaries and Chairman of N. Alawdeen Ltd, in Japan Nilam Alawdeen who flew down from Japan for the event pointed out that the company started with only five employees in 1995, has now become a top company internationally in the field of sapphires and thanked everyone who contributed to the successful growth of the company. 

Among the special invitees who graced the occasion were Deputy Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Dunesh Gankanda, Former Media Minister Imitiyaz Bakir Makar, Cadillac Garments Chairman M.D.M. Vazeer, Priyantha Gems Chairman Priyantha Silva, Punsiri Gems Chairman Punsiri Thennakoon and Aiken Ltd. Chairman Indika Rajapaksa. 

Precision Lapidaries is globally recognised for calibrated blue sapphire gemstone exports and has won much local and international recognition including the Achiever Award (2003) by National Gem and Jewellery Authority.  With a vision to maintain high quality in faceting gemstones, Precision Lapidaries has a customer base of top internationally renowned designer jewellery companies such as Tiffany’s. It has an employee base of 150 with over 100 professional gem designers (cutters). The company continues to invest on employee training and carrier growth.
