People’s Leasing & Finance PLC (PLC), the leader in the NBFI sector of the country, yet again proved its success in financial reporting at the 52nd Annual Report Awards competition organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) by winning prestigious three awards – Gold award in the Finance Companies & Leasing Companies Sector, Gold award for the Best Disclosure on Corporate Governance and Bronze award for Best Disclosure on Capital Management in Integrated Reporting.
The Annual Report 2015/16 of the company themed ‘Invictus’ won the coveted Gold award of the sector for the consecutive ninth year demonstrating its continuous efforts in successful financial reporting, good governance and transparency. Reaching a new milestone in corporate reporting, PLC’s utmost commitment towards disclosures in corporate governance was rewarded with the Gold award for the Best Disclosures in Corporate Governance Category for the first time in its history.
It is also imperative to note that the company’s first efforts in reporting on capital management were honoured with the Bronze Award for Best Disclosure on Capital Management in Integrated Reporting. This category was open for the competition for the first time this year since its introduction at the 51st Annual Report Awards Competition. Having secured these outstanding achievements, Annual Report of PLC was competent to rank among the top 10 contenders who competed for overall excellence in financial reporting.
Expressing his sentiments on the company’s achievements, Chairman Hemasiri Fernando stated: “We are indeed pleased to see PLC Annual Report being recognised in different aspects at the 52nd Annual Report Awards and we would like to thank CA Sri Lanka for organising this prestigious event for Sri Lankan corporates to improve their reporting standards.”
PLC’s Annual Report ‘Invictus’ also created a new milestone in the corporate sector as Sri Lanka’s first Annual Report that incorporates augmented reality to present its story. A collaborative effort of PLC and Optima Designs Ltd., this brought in more liveliness to the readers of the annual report compared to traditional annual reports.
PLC Chief Executive Officer/General Manager D.P. Kumarage stated: “We are delighted to see that our report is improving year on year adhering to the highest standards in corporate reporting and receiving continuous appreciation at the Annual Report Awards competition.”
