Pinto appointed to Asian Hotels, Trans Asia Boards

Top professional Chumley Pinto, a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka and possessing nearly 40 years of post qualifying experience, has been appointed to the Boards of Asian Hotels and Properties Plc and Trans Asia Hotels Plc.

Having initially articled at Hulugalla and Company, Sri Lanka, Chumley subsequently held positions of Audit Supervisor and Audit Manager in international Audit firms such as Coopers & Lybrand and Pim Golby in Zambia. 

Chumley moved out of the Accounting Practice to join SAB Miller PLC, the world’s second largest brewer and listed under the FTSE100 index in the UK, where he worked for 23 years and functioned as the Chief Financial Officer of its independently listed international subsidiaries in Botswana, China and Ghana. In these positions he was involved in IPOs, Rights Issues and Corporate Governance with emphasis on Turnbull (FTSE-UK) and Sarbanes Oxley (NYSEUSA) requirements He has, in the past 3 years been consultant to Ceylon Cold Stores on the beverage industry, supply chain management and distribution systems.

While in Africa, Chumley was involved in several charities which set up homes for handicapped children and orphanages in Africa and in wild life conservation and photography.
