Phoenix Industries Ltd., the Sri Lankan house hold brand name for plastics, and the leading and largest plastic manufacturing company in the Island, opened its eighteenth showroom recently at No. 234, Colombo Road, Telwatta Junction, Negombo.
Established in 1976, Phoenix has rapidly become synonymous with quality industrial as well as household plastic ware and in fact recently laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 350 million plant solely dedicated to the manufacture of Unliver’s packaging requirements.
Phoenix Siri Niwasa is a one stop plastic and home ware store for customers in the surrounding areas for both domestic as well as industrial applications. Products available range from plastic household requirements and furniture, to crates, storage containers, garbage bins, pallets and the company’s most recent innovation, an elegant range of sofas.
“The Phoenix ‘Siri Niwasa’ showrooms are based on a thematic concept and the company plans to open show rooms island wide. Customers are invited to feel and experience the Phoenix product range which is produced from 100% virgin plastic and food grade materials,” said Phoenix Plastics CEO Hasith Premathillake.
At present Phoenix Industries operates from a state of the art 25 acre factory situated in the Makandura Industrial Zone, which includes one manufacturing facility at customer premises. The company’s current portfolio includes plastic furniture, consumer products, crates, sofas, pipes UPVC/ CPVC pipes, thermo form, PET, tooth brushes, thread cones , components for electric appliances and rigid plastic packaging for personal care, food and lubricant products.
The plant is equipped with over 80 Injection and blow molding machines, along with in mold labeling, printing, shrink sleeving, as well as labeling facilities supported by a dedicated in house tool room backed by over 35 BSc qualified engineers.
In fact Phoenix Industries was the first plastic manufacturer to introduce Hybrid Injection Molding machines to Sri Lanka in late 2009. Moving yet another step ahead in energy conservation, the Company in January 2012 purchased Sri Lanka’s first ever all electric injection molding machine from Japan, which can save energy up to 70%.
Phoenix Industries was recently honored for their energy conservation initiatives at a ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority which was presided over by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
Phoenix Industries Makandura received the Gold Flame and was the highest rated facility in the ‘Large Scale Manufacturing’ category. They were also the only facility to win a major award for two consecutive years.
