Noritake Lanka Porcelain Ltd. (NLPL) continued its winning streak this year and clinched three Gold awards at the prestigious NCE Export Awards held last Friday under the patronage of Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake and Deputy Minister Public Enterprise Development Eran Wickramaratne.
It won Gold for the Most Outstanding Exporter in the Industry Sector, Gold in the Industry Sector – Ceramic & Porcelain Product Sub Sector (Extra Large Category), and yet another Gold for being the Most Value Added Exporter.
In August this year, Noritake Lanka Porcelain also won three awards at the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) Awards in the Extra Large Category (Manufacturing Sector) as follows – Silver award at National Level, Gold award at Provincial Level and also the Top Ten award.
The same month Noritake Lanka Porcelain secured four awards in the 2016 Presidential Export Awards in the Mineral and Ceramic based product sector. The awards were for Highest Foreign Exchange Earner in 2014, Highest Value Added Exporter in 2014, Highest Foreign Exchange Earner in 2015 and Highest Value Added Exporter in 2015.
Commenting on the winning streak, Noritake Lanka Porcelain Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Yoshinari Shimaya said: “Just like last year was, this year too has been a good one. The several awards we won this year, and in different categories too, are an endorsement of both the excellence of our product and our superlative performance through the year. This is also an indication of the successful team work by every member of the Noritake family in Sri Lanka, be they at the factory in Matale, Pannala, our main showroom in Colombo 7 and at our other show rooms in Wattala, Matale, Odel, Katunayake Airport and new show room at Pepiliyana.”
“Added to this is the unwavering support of and confidence placed in us by our constantly growing customer base both in Sri Lanka and overseas. We at Noritake constantly strive to out-better ourselves. The goals that lie ahead are thus very challenging and we look forward to greater times ahead,” Shimaya added.
Established in 1972 as a joint venture company between the Ceylon Ceramic Corporation and the 100-year-old Noritake Co., Ltd. of Japan, NLPL today enjoys iconic status as Sri Lanka’s pioneer porcelain tableware manufacturing company. The Company’s production facility is located in Matale where rich minerals such as quartz, feldspar and dolomite deposits are located.
Noritake Lanka Porcelain currently exports more than six million pieces of porcelain ware valued at over Rs. 2,500 million. They are marketed in 100 countries across all five continents. NLPL is the major supplier of porcelain ware to leading hotels in Sri Lanka.
