The Petroleum Industries Ministry has assured that there would not be a fuel shortage in the country as speculated by some elements.
He gave this assurance in response to reports that there would be a fuel shortage following the wastage of a large quantity of fuel over the substandard fuel issue.
The Ministry said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) had in its stores sufficient amounts of fuel, especially petrol.
The Ministry added that a shipment carrying 35,000 tons of petrol would arrive in the Colombo Port today. Other types of fuel are also expected in the shipment.
The Ministry has called on the public not to be misled by false reports of a fuel shortage.
