Ameresekere has been a Member of IAACA since its inauguration in October 2006. IAACA, supported by UNODC was inaugurated in 2006 to promote and facilitate the UN Convention Against Corruption, which came into force in December 2005.

The Annual Conference & General Meeting of IAACA is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia from 30th October to 2nd November 2015, and is to be followed up by the UN Conference of State Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption from 2 to 6 November.

Sri Lanka was the 2nd signatory to ratify the UN Convention Against Corruption in March 2004, and the 19th Amendment to the Constitution has mandated the implementation of the Articles of the UN Convention Against Corruption.

This is an important juncture for the new Government combatting fraud and corruption on several fronts. The UN Convention Against Corruption applies with equal force to both and public and private sectors, managing public funds in fiduciary trust.
