The new range includes umbrellas specially made for the ladies, such as ‘Colour Change Umbrellas’, ‘Super Shine umbrellas’ and ‘Printed Frill Umbrellas’. Innovations of this kind are however not new to Kandurata Umbrellas, which has found success in both the local and international markets.
Since it was founded in 1978 as a sole proprietorship by the late M.H.M. Thajudeen with only 10 employees and four machines as a cottage industry, Kandurata Umbrellas has made a remarkable growth over the years. Under the dynamic stewardship of Managing Director/Chairman Deshamanya Dr. M.T.M. Nawushad and Director Operations M.T.M. Nawufal who manage the core business, Kandurata Umbrellas currently employs over 1,000 people.
Kandurata Umbrellas has already secured the top slot in the market at the manufacturer of ladies, gents and kids’ umbrellas as well as mosquito nets, raincoats and socks. Their excellence was also recognised at the recently held MAS Lanka Business Excellence Awards as one of the 10 best brand names of Sri Lanka.
