NDB Bank took its savings campaign literally to the streets when the senior management of the bank headed by its CEO Russell de Mel went on a brand rally to Kandy and Galle recently.

The NDB Bank Brand Rally consisting of multiple programmes fulfilled its main objectives of creating public awareness on the habit of saving and community development in the two areas.

Activities for the day included, visiting customers and informing them on the importance of saving, CSR projects in each town and an interactive school quiz competition among selected schools to promote and encourage the habit of saving.

These programmes were conducted in a span of four hours when the staff was broken into two teams with each team taking on one city and visiting schools and conducting school quiz competitions and donating equipment to hospitals

The CSR activities conducted resulted in almost 15,000 train commuters finding seating and 120 children and elders receiving better sanitation among other key activities that benefited the two communities in Kandy and Galle.

NDB Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Russell De Mel said: “Through this programme we as a bank integrated well towards a common objective of reminding 100,000 Sri Lankans of the value of saving.”

The Brand Rally was  part of NDB Bank’s ‘Lets Save, Build Ourselves and Our Nation,’ a nationwide initiative launched last year, which inculcates the habit of saving  and sends out a message that savings is no longer a luxury accessible to a few, but an option for everyone.

In the lead-up to this campaign NDB launched a savings booklet titled ‘Ithuru Karana Maga,’ which is a handy savings guide showing how to avoid unnecessary spending and waste, in turn eventually resulting in big savings.
