NDB Bank walked away with a Bronze award for its ‘NDB Bank Savings Star’ campaign in the Financial Services Category at this year’s Effie Awards.

Securing an Effie for the second consecutive year, the Bank was recognised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in partnership with Sri Lanka’s Advertising body, the 4As, for its effective and innovative campaign to promote the saving habit among the masses.

NDB Bank’s ‘Savings Star’ campaign was planned and implemented with the objective of promoting the savings habit among people, with the launch of Sri Lanka’s first ever Savings Star Account. Additionally for further effectiveness, this campaign was linked to the country’s famed reality TV show, Sirasa Superstar, providing the viewers a platform to be a star by saving.  NDB Bank Chief Operating Officer Indrajit Wickremasinghe, commenting on the win, said: “We are proud to have won an Effie this year. NDB Bank constantly strives to do things differently, daring to stand out while being effective; as proven at last year’s Effies where we were honoured with an award for the ‘Badu Malla’ campaign and our win this year for the ‘Savings Star’ campaign.”

“With our ability to adapt to unconventional strategies and combining our expertise in the industry with innovative concepts from our advertising partner, Phoenix Ogilvy, we are confident of producing bold and effective campaigns in the years to come.”

The Effie Awards were held for the third consecutive year and is the only international advertising awards being conducted in Sri Lanka with the support of 4As Sri Lanka. The Effie awards are aimed at honouring the most significant achievements in marketing communications and ‘ideas that work’.
