The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) in association with the Ministry of Finance and Planning will hold a seminar to explain to the business community and the general public the ‘Highlights of Budget 2012’.
The seminar will be held on Friday, 25 November 2011 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Earl’s Regency Hotel, Kundasale, Kandy.
Secretary to the Treasury Dr. P.B. Jayasundera, who will be the Chief Guest, at the seminar will explain the 2012 Budget proposals and the benefits and incentives offered to the business community and the public from the forthcoming proposals.
With the rapid development activities, especially in infrastructure development throughout the country and the favourable business climate, the Government expects to maintain 8.5% economic growth to achieve the expected per capita income of US$ 4,000 by 2016. Budget 2012 is expected to provide a conducive business environment, which will result in achieving the said economic growth.
Presently the country experiences 8% economic growth and it is necessary that this growth is sustained for the country to achieve the expected per capita income in which the business sector has a wider role to play.
The Government has also realised that the Small and Medium Enterprises sector could play a major role in the country’s economic development.
The Government is expected to address these issues in the forthcoming Budget proposals for 2012.
In addition to Dr. Jayasundera, other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance will also be available to explain in detail the proposals. This is a good opportunity for everyone interested in getting firsthand information with regard to various aspects of 2012 Budget proposals immediately after the Budget proposals are tabled in Parliament so that such information could be used in planning business activities in the next year. As the number of seats is limited, registration for the seminar will be on a first come, first served basis. For further information and registration, interested parties may contact Thushara Weerasekera or Buddika Mallawarachchi on 011 4 741788 or 0714 842863 or email to [email protected]/[email protected] of the Chamber Office.
