The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) on 25 January 2012 at its office signed a MoU with the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MNCCI).
The MoU was signed by NCCSL Deputy President Thilak Godamanna and MNCCI President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor on behalf of the respective organisations.
The MoU paves the way for both chambers to work for mutual benefits of their members. It covers cooperating with each other in promoting and widening economic cooperation through commercial, trade and investments between the two countries, exchanging trade information and assisting each other in conducting business promotion events in either country.
Gafoor arrived in Sri Lanka to address the Sri Lankan business community engaged in business with the Maldives at a seminar organised by the NCCSL, which was attended by about 45 members of the business community.
Witness for the signing of the MoU was Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Hussein Niyaz, who has just assumed duties at the Maldives High Commission in Colombo.
