At a recently held ceremony in Ceylon Continental Hotel, the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) was awarded the Global Commerce Excellence Award for 2011. The award was in recognition of the contribution made by the National Chamber towards the business and economic development of the country.
The event was conducted by the Shippers’ Academy of Colombo under the patronage of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, the first ever national business promotion organisation established in the country to look after the Sri Lankan businesses, has been serving the business community for last 63 years.
“With an inland wide network of local business organisations, NCCSL has taken many novel steps to connect the city businesses with the regional micro, small and medium entrepreneurs and upgrade expertise and skills of the businesses that are required to enhance their competitiveness,” NCCSL President Asoka Hettigoda said.
