National Chamber in a Close Dialog with Ambassador of Myanmar

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a presentation/discussion on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Myanmar’ with the participation of the Ambassador of Myanmar Min Thein Zan as the Special Guest Speaker on Thursday 19 June 2014 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium, 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo-10. The Ambassador will be assisted by Aung Soe Moe, Charge d’affairs. They will speak on the current business trend, trade potential, opportunities for export, import, investment and other services available for Sri Lankans in Myanmar. The participants will also get an opportunity for discussion and interaction with the Ambassador and the officials of the Embassy at the session. Main exports from Sri Lanka to Myanmar are refrigerating or freezing equipment, birds’ eggs, nutmeg, mace & cardamoms, tanning or dyeing extracts, cloves, activated carbon etc. Major items imported from Myanmar to Sri Lanka are: dried leguminous vegetables , wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal, unwrought aluminum, basketwork, wickerwork & other articles, made of rattan, textiles etc.. Interested sectors are: gem and jewellery, construction, transport and shipping, apparel, tourism, value added tea, agriculture, fisheries and food processing.
