Nalco 3D TRASAR technology for cooling water saved 353.4 million cubic metres of water Nalco, which is an Ecolab Company and CIC Holdings PLC, its local agent for Sri Lanka has joined hands to offer the latest technology for the Water and Cooling Water Systems at Mattala Mahinda Rajapakse International Airport. Nalco 3D TRASAR technology for cooling water received the 2008 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In granting this award, the EPA recognised that 3D TRASAR technologies for cooling water saved 353.4 million cubic metres (93 billion gallons) of water in 2011 only. Commenting on the successful project completion, Nalco’s Senior Area Manager, Ranesh Sugathapala indicated, “There is no other offering like the patented 3D TRASAR program; it integrates the most advance thinking in detection, automated control, leading-edge chemistry and instant communication to deliver proven returns on investment. Also I am very happy about the fact that this project was completely executed by our local engineering team.” CIC Holdings PLC Managing Director/CEO Samantha Ranatunga, speaking of the union said, “In today’s ever changing landscape the key word for any new development project is sustainability. The system implemented at the MRIA is a technological advancement in Water & Cooling Water Systems which is on par with any global system. The cooling system enables the airport to be water efficient, thereby ensuring MRIA’s ROI and environmental impact. The 25 yearlong partnership between CIC and NALCO, an Ecolab Company is striving to ensure that Sri Lanka’s development agenda is sustainable.” One of the Engineers of Airport Aviation of Sri Lanka commended, “It was a great technology introduced by NALCO and CIC Holdings and the level of system reliability offered by 3D TRASAR is unmatchable. It save lot of time and has brought the cooling water treatment management in to a new level.” Nalco uses the 3D TRASAR optimiser tool to determine the right treatment program to meet the exact need of the customers. The final solution will be programmed into the patented 3DT TRASAR Controller, precisely maintaining the appropriate level of chemistries. Additionally, the innovative NALCO 360 Services for system performance monitoring, provides 24/7 monitoring and alarming notification by trained Nalco experts, scheduled reports and overall system health check. Nalco is an Ecolab Company, Ecolab Inc. is the global leader in water, hygiene and energy services that provide and protect clean water, safe food, abundant energy and healthy environment.
