Munchee launches new biscuit with medicinal properties

THE  pioneer manufacturer of biscuits and confectionaries in Sri Lanka, Ceylon Biscuits Limited launched its latest innovative product yesterday, the Munchee Kotalahimbutu biscuit.

Munchee, the flagship brand of CBL in keeping with their strategy for innovation introduced the biscuit with medicinal properties after years of research and development in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Institute.

“Munchee has obtained and retained the leadership position in the biscuit category as a result of its commitment to maintain quality, continuous innovation and customer focused business practices. The clinical experiments carried out by the medical faculty of the Sri Jayawardenapura University have proved that the Kotalahimbutu biscuit is a food product that has low GI,” explained CBL Group Director and Head of Sales and Marketing Nandana Wickramage.

CBL also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the ITI at the launch of the product, an organisation they have worked very closely with since the signing of an agreement between the two entities in 2004. Munchee also introduced another novel cracker to the market earlier this month, the Munchee Cheese Cracker. The market for biscuits in Sri Lanka is currently growing at a rate of 8% annually.
