Lanka, an affiliated company of the Singer Group of companies, to stop using HCFC 141b in their products at the Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy on 20th November.
The Montreal Convention has paid an incentive of over Rs. 2 million to the respective company for entering the said agreement. Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Renewable energy B.M.U.D. Basnayake on behalf of the ministry and Factory Director V.P.K. Vidyaratne on behalf of the Regnis Lanka Company signed the agreement. National Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment and Renewable energy said that it is important to obtain the contribution of the private sector to eradicate ozone decaying materials from Sri Lanka. A Group of officials of the Ministry including Project Coordinator (Technical) of the National Ozone Unit Mahendra Seneviratne and Accountant Neranja Nissanka were present at the event.
