Metropolitan corporate website wins Silver award

The Metropolitan Corporate website www.metropolitan.lk has won the Silver award for the Best Corporate Website of 2010, at this year’s Best Web competition organised by the LK Domain Registry.

The top corporate websites were selected from amongst a prestigious list of corporate websites which were selected based on design, content, creativity, menu structure, usefulness, navigation, page layout, quality, etc., by a panel of expert judges in the industry. Some of these include the Bank of Ceylon; Dialog; Waters Edge; Mt. Lavinia; People’s Bank; Peoples Merchant Bank; SLIIT and DSI.

“We were over whelmed by the response received by participants. The Most Favourite Website in each category was selected by popular vote. A distinguished panel of judges carefully selected the awards in 10 categories from the websites nominated,” said Prof.Gihan Dias, CEO of LK Domain Registry.

The Metropolitan website www.metropolitan.lk which has a range of features which allows easy access of information of its Group of companies and has a well designed home page that directs the public to desired pages such as careers, products, CSR, etc.

The Metropolitan website gets over 10,000 hits per month by consumers looking for the best in workplace and consumer electronic products such as copiers, printers, cameras, computers, scanners, furniture, etc. and those looking for employment opportunities and partnerships with the Metropolitan Group.

Last year, Metropolitan was amongst the top 20 Best English websites of Sri Lanka. The LK Domain registry holds this annual event to encourage and recognise high quality local websites.

The competition also included 10 special awards categories such as “Best Government”, “ Best news web site”, “Best Social web site” ,“Best Advertising web site”, “Best Entertainment Web site” , “Best Personal web site”, “Best e-commerce web site”, “Best Non profit web site”, “Best SME Web site” and special awards for Best Website developers.
