The Corporate Advisory and Capital Market Division of MBSL intends to publish a book titled ‘Knowledge Dissemination to the Business Community’ on 29 January 2013 at Earls Court – Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo.
It will comprise of all the knowledge dissemination networking programs conducted by the bank, and with the direction of an eminent speaker who will address the various topics needed to educate the business community.
It will lay the foundation for building relationships in business on an ongoing basis with the practical topics gleaned during this period 1998 to 2012. In addition to the book release, a seminar titled ‘Three Perspectives of Managing Business’ will be conducted simultaneously.
The initial concept of this knowledge dissemination was originated by Sunil G. Wijesinha – former Managing Director of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC, in 1998. At that time Sri Lankan businesses were challenged by the shifts in macro – micro economic variables, civil war, etc., which took place during that time.
Considering these challenges internally and also externally, enabled MBSL to organise these sought after programs considering the need of the time to enlighten the business community and the remedial action to be taken.
The areas covered in this book are: Common Mistakes in Managing Industrial Relations, Turnaround of a Company, Introduction of the ‘5S’ System, The New Economy and its Challenges to Sri Lankan Businesses, Corporate Planning, Revision of Labour Laws, Total Productive Maintenance, Personality Development: Threshold to Success, How to Take your Company Public, Corporate Strategy and the Balance Scorecard, How to take your Company Public and Success Stores of listed companies in the Share Market, How To Strengthen your Balance Sheet through a Capital Reduction, Practical Aspects of Implementing International Financial Reporting Standards, Implications of the New Finance Business Act, etc., also containing the material covered during the session.
This book will be a handy sized publication containing over 300 pages, providing useful information to any business whether it be small, medium or large scale enterprises.
