MARKSS Healthcare (MARKSS HLC), one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka, opened its second distribution hub in Kandy recently, establishing an islandwide regional distribution and warehousing complex for their pharmaceutical, neutraceutical items, medical equipment and devices.
The new distribution and warehousing complex was inaugurated under the patronage of Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake. The company plans to introduce a number of Regional Distribution Centres throughout the country further strengthening its distribution channels and links with its customers directly.
Addressing the gathering, Ekanayake said: “At present, we are on a mission in developing the Central Province to attain the number one Provincial Council status in Sri Lanka. The contribution by MARKSS Healthcare towards the betterment of the healthcare sector will positively play a direct role to the whole development programme in this area, as many patients from the north and the east visit hospitals in the Central Province for their health needs, especially the oncology and nephrology patients. We are privileged and encouraged the support rendered by a responsible corporate like MARKSS Healthcare, not only by providing effective healthcare solutions but also the knowledge they shared, and introducing new technology to the healthcare community in this region.”
The regional centres are designed to ensure many elements of supply chain to the customer. They serve to ensure the quality of drugs right to the customer which aids MARKSS’s vision in attaining the state of “the most admired pharmaceuticals company in Sri Lanka”. Through this venture, MARKSS will have control of its distribution to the point of the chemist. In addition, the regional hub is capable in handling orders rapidly with higher degree of efficiency.
MARKSS HLC Director Maithri Bandaranaike elaborating on the Regional Distribution Centre expansion strategy said: “We are able to achieve this feat within a very short span of time simply because, MARKSS Healthcare has always introduced the very best in the healthcare promoting a ‘Healthier Sri Lanka’ and introducing the very best in medicine and healthcare products.
The new distribution channel expansion will help us in giving an efficient solution further strengthening our offerings to the local market. He further added that introduction of new technology for distribution operation will enhance the effectiveness of the customer service that the organisation considers as its utmost priority.”
