Maliban Biscuits proved that they can offer the consumer superior taste with the best quality at an affordable price once again when the company celebrated success and exceptional growth of 2011.
The annual ‘Maliban Dealer Convention 2011’ was held on January 28, 2012 in Colombo with the focus of recognising and rewarding the company’s sales and marketing team for their exceptional performance during 2011.
The event which was attended by the Chairman of Maliban Biscuits Manufacturers Ratnapala Samaraweera, the Board of Directors, the CEO and the employees of Maliban and the distributors and sales personnel from the entire island. The total participation was more than 600.
The conference consisted of several components while the main feature being the presentation of awards that was done under several categories. The categories included Best Distributer, Best Area Sales Manager, Best Area Sales Executive and Best Sales Representative to name a few. The winners are monitored for a period of one year, while their performance is measured under strict criteria.
“We are not only focused on improving the quality of biscuits but we take priority in uplifting the skills of the employees through a comprehensive training and development plan. This year the sales team has another challenge which is to enhance the overall market handling efficiencies in order to reduce waste, this is something we’re very keen on,” said Lakshman Weersuriya, Group CEO.
He also congratulated the sales team and the distributers for their splendid performance during 2011. He stressed on the fact that the world class quality of Maliban biscuits is the main reason for Maliban’s dominance in the domestic and in the world market.
CEO – Sales and Marketing Ravi Jayewardene said; “Though the market is fiercely competitive, by implementing the right strategy and a very discipline framework they were able to achieve all key performance indicators such as volume growth, operational efficiencies, and financial management. This was done with the combined efforts of all the departments across the organisation. The management identifies these efforts and we reward and recognise all our employees.”
The convention highlighted the significant growth in rates achieved by the company in 2011 which saw a substantial 28% increase in terms of volume. The theme and objectives for 2012 referred to as ‘WWW’ was introduced to the sales force, this emphasises on ‘Winning Trade, Winning the Consumer and Winning Team.’
“There are ambitious plans for 2012 and we hope to see further development and increase in profits at Maliban with the targets that are set for the sales team. They have performed exceptionally well with commitment in 2011 and I’m confident that this will continue in the months to follow,” said Ashan Kannangara, General Manager – Sales and Operations.
The event was made colourful with dance acts, musical performances and entertainment leaving the participants in good spirits. The convention ended on a high note with food, celebrations and fellowship, keeping the team energised and looking forward to another competitive year.
With the focus of achieving further sustainable development Maliban expects to offer a range of innovative products to suit the changing behaviours and preferences of their consumers, including a product range for the health conscious consumer.
