Long-standing Shaw Wallace CEO quits

M.N. Gunasekera who has been a long standing CEO in addition to over three decades service in Shaw Wallace and Hedges Plc has resigned with effect from 16 October.

Gunasekera was the CEO/Director, counts over 38 years of work experience, out of which, 33 years have been with the Shaw Wallace Group and the past 12 years as the CEO. He was also the former Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Wallace Ceylon Ltd.

The resignation comes after the Company announced that Chairman S. R. Vamadevan has assumed the additional role of Managing Director.

Gunasekera is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Fellow of the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Taxation. He was a former President and currently a Council Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Taxation. He has followed a Management   Development Program at the Cranfield School of Management, Bedford, England.
