LEC awarded Best Energy Services Company – Bronze Flame Category at National Energy Awards

Lanka Energy Conservation Ltd. (LEC) received the Bronze Flame Award for Best Energy Services Company (ESCO) at the recently-concluded 7th consecutive annual National Energy Awards.

The ceremony was held with the distinguished participation of President Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of the Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy Minister of the Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera, Secretary of Power and Renewable Energy Dr. B.M.S. Batagoda, SEA Chairman Eng. J.D. Keerthi Wickramaratne, SEA Director General Ranjith Pathmasiri at the BMICH on 24 November.

The Sri Lanka National Energy Efficiency Awards (SLEENA) ceremony is the annual event conducted by Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) in collaboration with Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy to recognise the achievements of public and private sector institutions in energy efficiency improvement and conservation. Under different categories, industrial and commercial establishments, owned by the state and private sector joined SLEENA scheme for 2016, on successful implementation of energy efficiency improvement projects as well as with the introduction of energy management systems in their respective establishments.

“Most energy retrofit approaches are considered ‘simple’ or ‘light’ because they focus only on upgrading lighting equipment and adding new motors to the heating and cooling systems. By contrast, a deep energy retrofit employs an integrated array of energy efficiency measures that requires in-house experience across mechanical-electrical-electronics and industry knowledge, often as part of a multi-year or portfolio-level plan, to reduce energy consumption by 30% or more compared to the pre-retrofit energy use while delivering superior sustainability performance,” said LEC Chairman Dammica Wickramaratne.

He further stated: Whilst the Government and investors are looking at renewable energy sources to strengthen future energy availability and contingency, we manage demand side by concentrating on introducing efficient energy conservation solutions to reduce wasteful usage of energy Yet maintain comfort conditions in new and existing buildings/plants, positive payback and enormous life cycle cost advantage, our solutions reduces the pressure on energy demand on the grid, reaching environment sustainable goals.”

LEC has gained leadership position within a short period of three years since establishment in Sri Lanka by Sri Lankan born Australian energy award winner Dammica Wickramaratne, as a leader in the energy retrofit segment, it remains the only company in Sri Lanka to deliver complex energy saving solutions with a commercial guarantee on ROI. 

LEC set the trend and introduced the magnetic bearing chiller for the first time to the Sri Lanka market from SMARDT Australia.
